Egypt 2023 - Southern Land, Northern Diving

Cayman Brac in 2023 and Bonaire in 2024 were our annual trips with our Tri-State Scuba buddies. This was our 3rd trip to Brac and our 9th trip to Bonaire. Great time was had by all.

Brazil 2022

So, yes, the world shut down. It was an interesting shared world experience. James got on the bread making bandwagon. Then we got healthier....then we got a little less healthy. We rented a house in Florida for a bit and drove down staying isolated and masked but with a better view. Towards the end of the pandemic, we made the move from Ohio/Kentucky to North Carolina. We figured if you can't see people, you might as well move to the country and get a tractor.

I was trying to save the best for last. Visiting all 50 states is on my bucket list and I was down to 2. Well, I guess Arkansas is the best (cause it will be the last) but Hawaii did not disappoint.

Hawaii 2019

The Revillagigedo Islands are a group of four volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean. They are known as the Galapagos of Mexico because of their unique ecosystem and marine diversity. We headed there for a dive trip with our Tri-State Scuba buddies.

Socorro 2019

In September 2018, James and I set off on a two week adventure to Egypt. This was a trip planned by our local dive shop, Tri-State Scuba. So we set off we a group of fellow travelers to spend a week diving in the Red Sea and then touring in and around Cairo.

Egypt 2018

In April 2018, we headed out on another safari with WildPhotos Safaris. This time we headed out to Botswana, on the Dessert to Delta safari. We picked this safari because it gave us great diversity and let us see some of the best of Botswana. As it was high water season, we couldn’t resist added a few days at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Botswana and Zimbabwe 2018

At the end of June, my mom and I set out to drive the upper portion of the Mississippi River. We started at the headwaters in Itasca State Park in Minnesota where it starts as a small creek and followed it through 5 states to St Louis, Missouri.

As of 2017, I had 4 states left to visit to complete my bucket list item of visiting all 50 states. Despite living within easy driving distance of Michigan, it was still on my list so in the summer of 2017, James and I set off to spend a week exploring Michigan. We spent a few days each in Traverse City, Petoskey and Mackinac Island. Michigan exceeded all of my expectations.

We met in 2006 when I was living in Carson City and James was in Fallon, Nevada. We moved from Nevada to Fredericksburg, VA, taking the chance to drive across the country, which was our first trip together. Then in 2008, we ended up moving to Cincinnati, Ohio. All that said, let’s call our 2008 wedding in Florida, our first recorded travel adventure. We rented a house on the beach in Redington Shores. There on the beach, we made an aisle with shells and tiki torches and had the ceremony with just 20 of us in all. After the ceremony, we had cake at the house with milk (I don’t understand cake without milk) and champagne/sparkling cider. Then we went to the Grand Hyatt in Tampa for dinner. James and I spent a few days in Tampa, with a visit down to Universal Studios. I am biased, but it was the perfect wedding, a beautiful day with the people we love.

For awhile most of our travels were dive related, but then we remembered the world above is pretty amazing as well.

The world just below the water’s surface is amazing. If you ever get a chance to snorkel or scuba dive, take it. Your world will be expanded in ways you can’t imagine.
